Weather Dancer.

Piikani Resource Development Ltd. was contracted to complete the servicing of weather dancer after receiving the mandate from Chief and Council. This was followed by the corporation releasing a Request for Proposals that resulted in a proponent being selected to complete the needed refurbishment work and to provide O&M services over a 6-year period.

PRDL contracted VESTAS to begin the refurbishment of Weather Dancer in November of 2014.

It is anticipated that the wind turbine should remain operational over a 15 to 20 year period.

In the years to follow, the Piikani Nation plans to add an additional 5-6 wind turbines that will join Weather Dancer in producing wind energy for transmission on the Nation’s 25 Kv line that connects to the grid at the Peigan Sub-station.
